Leaders Need to Slow Down to Speed Up

Do you want to achieve more in less time?

Do you want to outwit the competition?

Do you want to get more done at work and still have the energy for your family?

YOU need to SLOW DOWN!!!

But what exactly does this mean?

The classical Greek philosopher Aristotle said: ‘Nature requires us not only to be able to work well, but also to idle well.’ Constantly pushing ourselves to achieve against all the odds offers no respite for reflection. We need downtime to allow insight to flower.

Deliberately slowing down requires you to actually schedule time to slow down.

Slowing down may take several forms but the most important thing is to be deliberate about it and schedule time to slow down. Slowing down can/should involve some of the following:

  • Better quality and more sleep.
  • Mindfullness
  • Meditation
  • Light exercise like yoga, cycling, etc
  • Leadership Self Assessment

Why going Online is NOT the best strategy during Covid-19?

Did you know at internet usage is up 50% since the start of this pandemic?

Did you know that many entrepreneurs are now pivoting their business by going online?

Did you know that while going online is a good strategy it is not the best strategy?

The effect of so many people going online is that it now makes the internet and social media a very crowded market place. With such a crowded marketplace, it is more difficult for entrepreneurs to stand out.

While the pandemic has forced many entrepreneurs into survival mode and going online was how they pivoted, now might be the time to relook your strategy all together.

I am not suggesting that going online is not a good strategy, I am suggesting that it may not be the best or only strategic move at this time.

How to manage Distractions while working from home.

 

Are you having difficulty managing distractions (kids, spouse, parents etc) while working from home?

Here are a few tips that will help you to manage/eliminate distractions so that you can be more productive and sane.

1) Work in 45 mins to 1 hour spurts.

2) Discuss your schedule with the people in your schedule

3) Remove the distractions of notifications from email, social media, whats app etc
